Personal Colour Analysis

Hi, I'm Lori, and welcome to LORIKEET COLOUR.
Nature speaks in colour. Softening summer hues fade into muted, then vibrant tones of autumn. Stark, icy winterscapes melt into fresh spring greens. Like the natural world of which we are a part, we are composed of pigments from every colour family. When our individual colour dimensions are harmonious with the colours we wear, we find synchrony; it is genuine. And everything is easier! Personal Colour Analysis introduces you to your colours - a palette that you can work with and tailor to your specific needs and preferences.

FA Q

What are your qualifications?

I am certified under 12 Blueprints in the Sci/ART system of personal colour analysis. As an educator, I have taught science, art, and textiles. As a seamstress, I have worked extensively with fabric, colour, and design. Not only does personal colour analysis allow me to educate clients on the properties and influence of colour. I also have the opportunity to be part of the movement towards sustainability in fashion. Using your palette to build outfits around key neutrals results in endless combinations with fewer pieces.

Where do I go for my analysis?
Colour analysis sessions take place in my home studio in North Vancouver. As lighting is key to accuracy, the colour analysis session is performed under artificial full-spectrum lighting with a CRI (colour rendering index) of at least 90. After determining your season/sub-season with the Sci/ART draping method, you will enjoy exploring your full palette with high-quality, precision-dyed Kettlewell Colours drapes; kettlewellcolours.co.uk, providing you the opportunity to ‘try on’ your colours, learn your best neutrals, and discover your ‘wow’ colours. You will witness how your palette works together and leave with a new outlook and approach to your style and wardrobe.

How do I prepare for my analysis?

Dress comfortably (no collared shirts or high necklines) and please arrive without makeup, jewellery, or coloured contacts. It is preferable to remove glasses during the analysis, so colourless contact lenses could be beneficial if necessary. If glasses are required to see yourself in the mirror, please choose your most neutral pair. If you have long hair, please bring an elastic/pins to tie or pin back. Hair away from the face provides more of the 'canvas'. If hair is coloured, it will be covered during the analysis. Ensure that your skin is completely makeup-free, including tinted moisturisers. Self-tanning products may also interfere with an accurate analysis. Feel free to bring clothing items/jewellery/cosmetics that you have questions about.
Come in, relax with a cup of tea, enjoy the mountain view, and discover your colours!

What about AI and online analysis?

AI and online analysis are aplenty these days. The trouble with these options is lighting. For an accurate colour analysis, the lighting must be perfect. I have tried online analysis and was cast as a soft autumn - I am not. With an in-person analysis, you can be assured of an accurate analysis and have the opportunity to try on the various colours in your palette, play with colour combinations, and determine what works best for you before heading off to the store. You also have the time to have your many questions answered and come up with a viable plan for transitioning your wardrobe.

Who says I can't wear yellow?!
I have seen commentary suggesting that individuals cannot wear
certain colours, for example, yellow. Yes, you can! It just needs to be
your yellow. Are you attending an event and aghast that you need
to wear yellow? With a personal colour analysis, you can find
your yellow and look radiant!
