Hello, I'm Lori, and welcome to LORIKEET COLOUR.

Nature speaks in a language of colour, especially through the changing seasons. Softening hues of late summer fade into muted, then vibrant tones of autumn. Stark, icy winterscapes melt into the fresh greens of spring, heralding a renewed display of hues and tones.  Like the natural world of which we are a part, we are composed of pigments from every colour family - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. When our personal colour dimensions are in harmony with the colours we wear, there is synchrony. It is natural and genuine - both energizing and calming. Personal Colour Analysis introduces you to your colours - a palette that you can work with and tailor to your specific needs and preferences. Discover colour - your colours!

What are your qualifications?

I am certified under 12 Blueprints in the Sci/ART system of personal colour analysis. For further information on the Sci/ART method, see chrysaliscolour.com. As an educator, I have taught intermediate science, art, and textiles. As a seamstress, I have worked extensively with fabric, colour, and design. Not only does personal colour analysis allow me to educate clients on the properties and influence of colour, I also have the opportunity to be part of the movement towards sustainability in fashion. Using your palette to build outfits around key neutrals results in endless combinations with fewer pieces.

Where do I go for my analysis?

Colour analysis sessions take place in my home in North Vancouver. The quiet, comfortable studio is very private with a lovely view of the garden. Lighting is key for accuracy. In the absence of good natural lighting, the colour analysis session will be performed under artificial full-spectrum lighting with a CRI (colour rendering index) of at least 90. After determining your season/sub season with the Sci/ART draping method, you will then enjoy exploring your full palette of colours with high quality precision dyed Kettlewell Colours drapes. kettlewellcolours.co.uk With these you will experience ‘trying on’ your colours; learn your best neutrals and discover your ‘wow’ colours. You will witness how your palette works together and you will leave with a new outlook and approach to your stlye and wardrobe.

How do I prepare for my analysis?

Dress comfortably (no collared shirts or high necklines) and please arrive without make up, jewelry, or coloured contacts. It is preferable to remove glasses during the analysis, so colourless contact lenses could be beneficial if necessary. If glasses are necessary for seeing yourself in the mirror, we can work with that. If you have a selection, please choose the most neutral pair. If you have long hair, please bring an elastic/pins to tie or pin back. Hair away from the face provides more of the 'canvas'. If hair is coloured, it will be covered (cap provided) during the analysis. Do not be concerned about sun tans (artificial tans excluded), sun burns, blemishes, rosacea, and the like, as these are all part of your natural colouring and will even help us in the analysis. During the draping, you will observe a calming effect on these conditions when draped in 'your' colours.

Come in, relax with a cup of tea, and enjoy the process!

What about AI and online analysis?

AI and online analysis are aplenty these days. The trouble with these options is lighting. For an accurate colour

analysis, the lighting must be perfect. I have tried online analysis and was cast as a soft autumn - I am not. With an in-person analysis, you can be assured of an accurate analysis as well as having an opportunity to try on the various colours in your palette, play with colour combinations, and determine what works best for you before heading off to the store. You also have the opportunity to have your many questions answered and come up with a viable plan for transitioning your wardrobe. â€‹

Who says I can't wear yellow?!

I have seen commentary where individuals are told they cannot wear a certain colour, for example,                       example, yellow. Yes you can! It just needs to be 'your' yellow. Are you attending an event                                            and aghast that you need to wear yellow? With personal colour analysis you can find your                                          yellow and look radiant!
